From May 6 to 16, the Hai Duong Provincial Center for Disease Control conducted a survey and assessment of the nutritional status of nearly 3,100 mothers and children in 30 communes, wards and towns in the province. Of these, 1,530 were mothers with children under 5 years old and 1,530 were children under 5 years old.
The provincial Center for Disease Control established 3 investigation teams to collect information. Mothers were interviewed about their knowledge of breastfeeding, information about children at birth and micronutrient supplementation, hygiene, children's health, and mothers' knowledge of nutritional practices. At the same time, children's height and weight were measured. The results of the investigation aimed to assess some actual health indicators on nutrition. From there, there was a basis for developing a plan to implement the national nutrition strategy in the province.
In 2024, the province's rate of stunted children under 5 years old was 11.8%, underweight 7.6%, wasted 0.96%, and overweight 1.48%, all lower than the national average.
