Hai Duong Provincial People's Committee has just developed a plan to implement the National Program for Protection and Development of Aquatic Resources to 2030.
Hai Duong focuses on protecting the province's unique natural aquatic resources such as earthworms, clams, etc. Strictly manage the exploitation of endangered, precious and rare aquatic species such as fish: sardines, Japanese eels, catfish, red-eyed shrimp, etc.
Protection is carried out by enhancing regeneration and restoration of habitats; selecting parent breeds to produce fingerlings, transferring fingerling production technology and organizing commercial farming...
Manage aquatic resource protection areas, build prohibited exploitation areas, limited exploitation areas, and natural migration routes for aquatic products. Focus on the Mia and Van Uc river areas (An Thanh and Chi Minh communes of Tu Ky district; Thanh Xuan and Vinh Lap communes of Thanh Ha district); Rang river (Thanh Lang commune, Thanh Ha district); Thai Binh river adjacent to Van Uc river to the end of Hai Duong city.
Do not import, bring, raise, transport, trade, or release invasive alien aquatic species such as golden apple snails, black tilapia, tank cleaner fish, etc.
Inspect, detect, prevent and handle violations in the exploitation and protection of aquatic resources and violations in the management of invasive alien species. Strengthen the detection and strict handling of cases of using electric shocks, toxic substances and explosives in aquatic exploitation activities.
According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment, by the end of 2024, Hai Duong's aquaculture area will reach 12,627 hectares, with an output of 114,970 tons, including farmed and caught aquatic products. Of which, the area for organic rice production combined with the exploitation of earthworms and clams is about 1,000 hectares.
