Nearly 50% of high schools in Ho Chi Minh City have fewer first-choice applicants for grade 10 than the quota.

According to the data on the first choice registration for grade 10 admission announced by the Ho Chi Minh City Departmentof Education , there are more than 76,000 first choice registrations for grade 10 in 109 high schools across the city. 47/109 high schools have the number of first choice registrations lower than the enrollment quota.

The highest school has nearly 3 times the number of first-choice candidates registering for grade 10, while there is a school with only 25% of its quota for first-choice candidates.

With the principle that a student can register for 3 wishes, high schools with the number of 1st wishes less than the quota but the total number of wishes can still be more than the quota because there are still 2nd and 3rd wishes registered to the school.

Notably, among the schools with the number of first-choice applicants lower than the target, there is Gia Dinh High School, the city's top school. The shortage is not that great, but this is perhaps a surprise.

Many other high schools in the central area have fewer first-choice candidates than the target, such as Nam Ky Khoi Nghia, Nguyen Du, Nguyen Hien... Notably, Dien Hong school in District 10 has only 27% of candidates registering for first-choice candidates.

Meanwhile, most of the schools with low first-choice applicants are mainly located in Thu Duc area, District 8, District 10, Binh Thanh District and Nha Be, Can Gio and Cu Chi districts. The school with the lowest number of first-choice applicants is located in District 8.

According to this statistic, in Tan Binh, Tan Phu, District 6, and District 12, most schools have more first-choice students than their quota. Meanwhile, in District 3, District 10, and District 11, many schools still have less first-choice students than their quota.

On the other hand, 62/109 high schools have more first-choice applicants than their quota. Nguyen Thuong Hien High School has had the highest grade 10 benchmark score for many years, but the competition rate based on first-choice applicants this year is not the highest.

Among the schools that received many first-choice applications, in addition to the famous schools in the inner city, there are also many schools in suburban districts or outlying districts such as Vinh Loc, Pham Van Sang, Vo Truong Toan, Ho Thi Bi, Ly Thuong Kiet...
