On the evening of May 16 at Hang Day Stadium, the Vietnamese women's team lost 1-4 to Werder Bremen (ranked 7th in the Bundesliga this season). The match was part of a series of events celebrating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the Federal Republic of Germany.

In addition, the match is also part of the Vietnam women's team's plan to kick off important tournaments, including: the 2026 Asian Women's Championship qualifiers (late June, in Vietnam), the 2025 Southeast Asian Women's Football Championship (August, in Vietnam) and the 33rd SEA Games (December, in Thailand).

In the second half, Werder Bremen women's club doubled the score in the 50th minute thanks to Muhlhaus. After this goal, the German team played slowly and at times showed subjectivity. And in a situation of careless ball control, a German defender made a mistake and lost the ball.

Seizing the opportunity quickly, young talent Ngoc Minh Chuyen accelerated and had a decisive shot to shorten the score to 1-2 for the home team.

In the remaining minutes of the match, the Vietnamese girls lost their strength, allowing Werder Bremen Women's Club to score 2 more goals, securing a 4-1 victory.

Speaking after the match, coach Mai Duc Chung said the Vietnamese women's team played hard, but needed to improve their endurance and play the ball more coherently.
