Meeting Lao Cai students participating in the 2025 Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad

On the afternoon of April 28, the Department of Education and Training organized a meeting to encourage Nguyen Huy Phong, an 11th grade IT student at Lao Cai Provincial High School for the Gifted, to participate in training and compete in the 2025 Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad.

In the second round of the Informatics Olympiad selection exam for the regional and international Olympiad held last March, Nguyen Huy Phong excelled over 36 outstanding candidates nationwide to officially become a member of the Vietnamese team participating in the 19th Asia- Pacific Informatics Olympiad (APIO) in 2025. According to the plan, the exam will take place in Uzbekistan from May 17-18.

Nguyen Huy Phong is the first student in Lao Cai province to achieve this result. He still has the opportunity to participate in another international exam next year when he enters grade 12.

To prepare for the exam, right after being named in the team list, Nguyen Huy Phong and his teachers at Lao Cai High School for the Gifted actively reviewed and at the same time reviewed intensively with leading experts from the University of Information Technology and the National Economics University (Hanoi), the Ministry of Education and Training in an online format.

From May 5 to 15, Nguyen Huy Phong will participate in a direct training session at Hanoi National University before officially participating in the international competition.

Giving gifts to encourage Nguyen Huy Phong, Director of the Department of Education and Training Duong Bich Nguyet expressed her belief that with the knowledge and experience equipped at school, Nguyen Huy Phong will confidently complete the exams well, bringing high achievements to the Vietnam Informatics Team in general and Lao Cai province in particular, contributing to the glory of education in the highlands.

The Vietnamese Informatics team participating in the Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad has 15 members from the following provinces and cities: Lao Cai, Lam Dong, Binh Dinh, Quang Ninh, Dak Lak, Hai Duong, Thanh Hoa, Vinh Phuc, Hanoi and Da Nang.
