Wolves entered the match in turmoil as new manager Rob Edwards had not yet been officially introduced, and the team was temporarily led by James Collins.
Wolves made four changes to their starting line-up from the previous game, notably the return of Andre and Joao Gomes in midfield. Meanwhile, Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca welcomed back Liam Delap from suspension.

Chelsea dominated from the start with a series of chances from Garnacho and Enzo Fernandez, but Wolves goalkeeper Johnstone kept up a series of excellent saves. However, the deadlock only lasted until the 51st minute, when Garnacho made an accurate cross from the left wing for Malo Gusto to open the score 1-0 for the home team.
Wolves then rose strongly but Chelsea's defense stood firm. In the 65th minute, young talent Estevao created a breakthrough on the right wing, passing the ball to Joao Pedro to double the gap.

Wolves' spirit completely collapsed after the second goal. In the 73rd minute, Garnacho continued to leave his mark when he assisted Pedro Neto to score against his former team, sealing a 3-0 victory.
With all three points, Chelsea continued their impressive run of form under Maresca and closed in on the top spot, while Wolves remained in crisis with a fragile defense and low morale.
Goals: Gusto (51'), Joao Pedro (65'), Neto (73')
