Visit the filming locations of the famous movie “Oppenheimer”

Oppenheimer is currently the highest-grossing World War II film in box office history and the locations featured in the film are sure to pique audiences' curiosity.

1. Los Alamos, New Mexico

Los Alamos served as the location for the scientist 's home and office, as well as the location for all of Oppenheimer's experiments. This was where the scientist lived with his wife Kitty (Blunt) and children Toni and Peter from 1943 to 1945, and was one of the main filming locations.

While visiting Los Alamos, visitors can also visit other locations featured in the film, such as the Los Alamos National Laboratory, the Women's Army Corps of Engineers, Lamy Railway Station, and Fuller Lodge. A sandy location in the heart of the Rocky Mountains in northern New Mexico provided the perfect backdrop for the nuclear bomb detonation. The arid Los Alamos frontier was Nolan's choice to simulate a crucial step in the development of nuclear weapons. However, the actual testing site was in Jornada del Muerto, located in west-central New Mexico.

Filming extended to surrounding areas including Abiquiu, Santa Clarita and Sierra Madre. While in Santa Fe and Los Alamos, visit Bandelier National Monument and the Bradbury Science Museum. Get lost in Ashley Pond Park and take a peaceful hike through the Jemez Mountain Trail. Those looking for a little adrenaline can visit Pajarito Mountain, a luxury ski resort, and hike through the Santa Fe National Forest for a blissful getaway.

3. University of California (UC), Berkeley, California

Oppenheimer had an illustrious career as a professor at Cambridge University in Berkley from 1929 to 1943, before he was appointed head of the Manhattan Project. The scenes in the university where he worked, from the hallways to the main library, are a feast for the eyes.

Edwards Stadium, another famous Oppenheimer filming location, is featured in the trailer. It is located on Fulton Street, on the southwest corner of the UC Berkley campus. The university offers campus tours that include 90-minute walking tours led by student ambassadors.

4. University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), California

In an effort to portray every important aspect and achievement of the American genius, the film crew went to the University of California, Los Angeles campus where Oppenheimer once taught to shoot.

5. Princeton University, New Hersey

Princeton University, the famous university where the physicist studied from 1947 to 1966, became the filming location for Oppenheimer. It was also where Oppenheimer met Albert Einstein (played by Tom Conti in the film), his colleague at the time.
