Arabica coffee prices hit a 10-day high and robusta hit a more than two-and-a-half-week high. Robusta inventories tracked by ICE fell to just 4,227 lots, the lowest in three-and-a-half months.

In addition to inventory concerns, coffee prices were also supported by the decline in the US dollar index to a three-year low and concerns about trade tensions between the US and China. Although negotiations are underway, tariffs continue to weigh on commodity markets, including coffee.

Weather conditions in Brazil have also contributed to price volatility. Scattered rains in the Minas Gerais region have eased drought concerns, but the market is closely monitoring climate developments in key coffee growing regions.

World coffee prices today

Coffee prices on the world market fell sharply on both exchanges:

Robusta Coffee (London):

Delivery in May 2025: Down 141 USD/ton, to 5,247 USD/ton.

Delivery in July 2025: Down 119 USD/ton, to 5,260 USD/ton.

Arabica Coffee (New York):

May 2025 delivery: Down 3.55 cents/lb, to 372.5 cents/lb.

July 2025 delivery: Down 4.45 cents/lb, to 369.35 cents/lb.

World coffee prices have fallen sharply due to speculation and the uncertainty of US tax policies. Farmers and exporters need to be cautious when making purchasing decisions in the coming time.

Brokerage firm BMI, part of Fitch Solutions, has unexpectedly raised its forecast for average arabica coffee futures prices in 2025 to 340 US cents per pound, up from 240 cents previously, mainly due to lower-than-expected production in Brazil and Vietnam.

However, BMI also noted that the market remains very unpredictable, and if the US imposes tariffs on imported coffee, prices could continue to rise, reducing consumer purchasing power in large markets like the US.
