World gold price today May 31, 2025 and world gold price fluctuation chart in the past 24 hours
At 11:30 p.m. on May 30, the world gold price listed on Kitco was around $3,283.62/ounce. The closing price of gold on May 30 decreased by $27.22/ounce compared to yesterday.
Converted according to the USD exchange rate at Vietcombank (26,200 VND/USD), the world gold price is about 107.58 million VND/tael (excluding taxes and fees). Thus, the price of SJC gold bars is 10.92 million VND/tael higher than the international gold price.
Gold Price Forecast
World gold prices fell slightly as the US dollar rose and the market reacted to new developments on tariffs. Meanwhile, the latest inflation data from the US continued to raise hopes that the Federal Reserve (Fed) will cut interest rates in the near future.
Spot gold fell 0.82% to $3,283.62 an ounce at the time of writing, posting a 2.45% weekly decline. U.S. gold futures also fell 0.7% to $3,295.40. The U.S. dollar rose 0.2%, making gold more expensive for investors using other currencies.
A US federal appeals court has temporarily reinstated broad tariffs imposed by former President Donald Trump, just a day after a US trade court ruled that Mr Trump exceeded his authority in implementing the measures.
Gold is currently in a correction phase after its recent rally, according to David Meger, director of metals trading at High Ridge Futures. “Gold is under some pressure as safe-haven demand eases, but there is a potential for a strong response from Trump, which should ultimately support gold,” he said.
The US personal income and spending report, including the PCE inflation index, was just released. The PCE index rose 2.1% year-over-year in April, lower than the forecast of 2.2% and down slightly from 2.3% in March. The core index (excluding food and energy) rose 2.5%, also lower than expected. These figures were not much different from market expectations, so they did not create much volatility.
Meanwhile, the world gold price recovered somewhat in the early morning of May 31 compared to the lowest level on the night of May 30. The main reason came from Mr. Trump's new social media post about trade relations with China. President Trump just posted a message saying that he will no longer "be nice" to China on trade issues. This statement caused the stock market to fluctuate slightly, with stock indexes falling slightly.
Other precious metals also fell, with silver down 0.6% to $33.14 an ounce, platinum down 1.6% to $1,065.50 and palladium down 1% to $963.57.
