The story goes that the Queen's Temple is located on the ferry of the ancient forest of Yen Hung village. During the Le Dynasty, this land belonged to An Bang and An Quang towns. During the Nguyen Dynasty, it was changed to Quang Yen province, now Yen Giang ward, Quang Yen town, Quang Ninh .

In the past, on both sides of the river, trees grew into forests, the water surface was vast and stormy, from afar it looked like a green island.

There, there was an old couple living with their teenage daughter on a small fishing boat, making a living by fishing.

One day, the husband said to his wife: "Our child has grown up, but the time has not come yet. At the end of the village's land strip, there is a ferry crossing to the Da wharf. Let's take our child there to set up a shop selling drinks, who knows, we might find someone to marry."

Then, the grandparents continued to cast their nets, but that trip never returned. The girl, in the pain of losing her parents, went to the ferry dock every day to wait, her heart heavy with endless longing.

At the same time, the Yuan-Mongol invaders invaded our country for the third time. To prepare for the naval battle, Tran Hung Dao chose the Bach Dang River as the battlefield.

While surveying the terrain here, he met a girl selling water at Do Rung wharf and asked her to help him with the characteristics of the waterways and tides of Bach Dang River. Born and raised on this river, she understood every wave of the tide rising and falling, so she showed him the direction of the waterways and the shallowness and depth of the river branches.

Tran Hung Dao assigned her some necessary tasks to serve the naval war. After defeating the Yuan-Mongol invaders in 1288, the court reviewed the merits and awarded the generals and soldiers. Tran Hung Dao reported to King Tran Nhan Tong the contributions of the Yen Hung villagers and the water seller at Do Rung wharf. After hearing this, the King immediately conferred the title "An Hung Nghia Dan" on the villagers and "Tuoc Vuong" on the water seller to reward her.

At this time, people went to the river to tell her, but they could not find her anymore.

To commemorate her merit in helping the court fight the enemy, the villagers built a temple to worship her right on the old inn's foundation, next to the cinnamon tree on the riverbank, to worship her with incense and candles morning and night.

From the title "Tục Vương" she was given by the king, the people called her the Queen Mother to show respect. The name of the temple of the Queen Mother also comes from here.
