Domestic coffee price list updated on the morning of May 19, 2025 |
At the end of last week, coffee prices in the Central Highlands region fluctuated between 124,500 - 125,200 VND/kg, the lowest level in over a month, down sharply by 3,100 - 3,500 VND/kg compared to last week.
On the world market, on the London exchange, the online price of Robusta coffee for July 2025 delivery contract decreased sharply by 6.9% (361 USD/ton) compared to the previous week; similarly, the price of Arabica coffee for July 2025 delivery on the New York exchange decreased by 5.7% (22 US cents/pound) compared to the previous week.
Traders said Robusta prices were under pressure due to ample supplies as Robusta coffee is being harvested in Indonesia and Brazil. In addition, recent forecasts show Brazil’s coffee output will be higher than initially estimated due to favorable weather conditions.
Meanwhile, according to experts, coffee prices have plummeted due to profit-taking pressure from hedge funds, along with concerns about slowing global consumption. The rising value of the US dollar has increased import costs, negatively impacting demand from major consuming countries.
The domestic market reacted immediately to negative signals from the world. Many agents said that purchasing power was weak, while the remaining supply was not much because most of it had been sold from previous high-price periods.
Coffee industry experts say the decline is not surprising. This is the time when Brazil officially enters the robusta (Conilon) harvest, increasing global supply. This year, favorable weather has helped Brazil harvest faster, creating more downward pressure on international prices.
In addition, coffee prices have increased too much in recent times, 2-3 times higher than before, making downward adjustments according to the law of supply and demand inevitable, similar to many other agricultural products.
