Rubber prices in the world continued to increase slightly today , with the Japanese market seeing consecutive increases supported by supply concerns due to bad weather in southern Thailand - the world's largest rubber producing region.
The price increase was mainly due to the Thai Meteorological Department’s new warning of heavy rains from November 19 to 22 in the south of the country, the region that accounts for the majority of natural rubber production. The risk of flash floods and disruptions to the supply chain has raised concerns about tight supplies, pushing prices up.
In currency markets, the yen recovered 0.1% to 155.37 yen per dollar after falling to a nine-month low. A stronger yen typically makes commodities priced in the currency more expensive for international investors, which could dampen demand.
