Rubber prices in the world today decreased on concerns that Nexperia's suspension of chip exports could affect rubber demand in the automotive sector. Although this item had increased slightly earlier thanks to positive business results of major automakers.

Sentiment was boosted by Toyota raising its full-year profit forecast thanks to cost cuts and strong demand for hybrid vehicles, while BMW reported higher-than-expected car profit margins. These positive signs helped improve the outlook for rubber consumption, a key ingredient in tire production.

Nexperia said it could not yet determine when chip exports would resume and could not guarantee product quality in the coming period. The Dutch government took over Nexperia in late September amid concerns that its Chinese parent company, Wingtech, was moving production back home. In response, China halted exports of Nexperia’s finished chips, which are widely used in cars.

In energy markets, oil prices fell as a global sell-off weighed on natural rubber, which typically moves in line with crude oil due to competition from synthetic rubber. The Japanese yen edged up 0.1 percent to 153.52 yen per dollar, making yen-denominated commodities less attractive to foreign investors.

The latest price quote of Phu Rieng Rubber Company fluctuates at 390 VND/DRC for mixed latex and 420 VND/TSC for water latex.
