The family of Painter and Sculptor Tran Tuy donated the sculpture "Portrait of Painter Nguyen Do Cung" to the Vietnam Museum of Fine Arts.

On the morning of February 13, 2025, at the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum, a ceremony was held to receive the work "Portrait of painter Nguyen Do Cung" donated by the family of painter and sculptor Tran Tuy. The work was created in clay and cast in plaster, finished with a layer of dark yellow paint, in the style commonly found in 18th-century Western portrait sculptures, close to realism and authenticity.

Respectfully receiving the work donated by sculptor Tran Tuy, Dr. Nguyen Anh Minh, Director of the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum expressed: “This is a noble gesture of the family of painter and sculptor Tran Tuy. The museum expresses its deep respect and gratitude for the kindness and affection of the family of painter and sculptor.”

During the ceremony, the family of painter and sculptor Tran Tuy also shared their wish to spread the value of the work to future generations, deepening the connection between the museum, the artist and the public, between previous and future generations.

Painter Nguyen Do Cung was the first Director of the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum. Through the work “Portrait of Painter Nguyen Do Cung”, author Tran Tuy wants to express his gratitude to the teacher, the leader who had a profound influence, guiding the first steps on his artistic path.
