In May 2025, the supply of live pigs in the southern provinces was considered stable, but not surplus, helping to maintain high prices in the market.
According to a report from the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, by the end of April 2025, the total pig herd nationwide had increased by about 3% over the same period last year, showing a positive recovery in the livestock industry.
However, in the southern region, the supply of live pigs is still not abundant. Many farmers tend to hold back pigs to wait for higher prices, leading to a decrease in the number of pigs on the market. In addition, pork exports to Cambodia are taking place regularly, further reducing domestic supply.
The limited supply has caused the price of live pigs in the South to increase to the highest level in the country. Specifically, on May 27, 2025, the price of live pigs in Long An reached 76,000 VND/kg, the highest in the country. Provinces such as Dong Nai, Tay Ninh, and Ba Ria - Vung Tau also recorded an increase of 1,000 VND/kg, ranging from 73,000 to 76,000 VND/kg.

At Ha Hien Food Company, the selling price of pork products ranges from 71,000 to 183,000 VND/kg. Specifically, pig tail costs 159,000 VND/kg, while pork ribs are sold at the highest price of 183,000 VND/kg. Other meats such as lean pork leg, pork ribs and pork belly are priced at 111,000 VND/kg, 121,000 VND/kg and 146,000 VND/kg, respectively.
At WinMart, Meat Deli chilled pork prices range from 101,520 to 159,122 VND/kg. In particular, some products are being discounted by 20% in the member promotion program.
