The South witnessed a sharp decrease, with Can Tho and Ben Tre down 2,000 VND/kg, down to 73,000 and 72,000 VND/kg, respectively, while many other provinces decreased by 1,000 VND/kg, fluctuating between 72,000-75,000 VND/kg. On the contrary, the North and the Central Highlands - Central region increased slightly in some places such as Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Hung Yen, Thai Nguyen (1,000 VND/kg), with prices ranging from 68,000-74,000 VND/kg. This fluctuation reflects the adjustment in supply and demand in the regions.

Provinces such as Binh Phuoc, Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Kien Giang, Hau Giang, Ca Mau, Bac Lieu, Tra Vinh, Soc Trang (74,000 VND/kg) and Tay Ninh (75,000 VND/kg) kept prices stable.
The purchasing price ranged from 72,000 - 75,000 VND/kg, with Tay Ninh and Long An leading the region. The downward price trend reflected abundant supply or stagnant demand in some provinces.

In mid-May 2025, African swine fever was detected in Thuong Hoa commune, Minh Hoa district, marking the first outbreak this year. Currently, the Department of Agriculture and Environment, together with localities and livestock farmers, are making efforts to implement many measures to prevent the spread of the disease.
Mr. Cao Xuan Dan, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Thuong Hoa Commune, said that on May 15, there were a number of cases of sick and dead pigs in households in Tien Hoa Village. Immediately after receiving the information, the commune quickly reported to the Tuyen Hoa - Minh Hoa Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Station, as well as the district's Department of Agriculture and Environment to conduct inspections and collect samples for testing. The test results on May 21 showed that the samples in Thuong Hoa Commune were positive for the virus that causes African swine fever.
From May 15 to 29, the disease spread to 13 households in 3 villages (Tien Hoa, Hat, Khai Hoa) in the commune, causing 25 pigs to be sick and destroyed, with a total weight of up to 2,426 kg. When the disease appeared, the commune widely announced through the loudspeaker system so that farmers could proactively take preventive measures for their pigs. At the same time, the commune also coordinated with functional agencies to destroy infected and suspected pigs. The commune People's Committee provided 1 ton of lime powder and 32 liters of chemicals to farmers to support them in cleaning, disinfecting and sterilizing the livestock area, according to information from Quang Binh newspaper.

Specifically, the prices of meat are as follows: pork belly 159,000 VND/kg, baby back ribs 181,000 VND/kg, old back ribs 128,000 VND/kg, lean shoulder 130,000 VND/kg, lean thigh 125,000 VND/kg, pig tail 168,000 VND/kg, and pork fat 85,000 VND/kg.
