Strengthening measures to prevent and control African swine fever
The Department of Agriculture and Environment of Bac Giang has just issued an official dispatch requesting localities in the province to strengthen measures to prevent and control African swine fever.
According to information from the Department of Animal Health, since the beginning of the year, African swine fever has occurred in 32 provinces and cities across the country with a total of 6,810 pigs forced to be destroyed.
Currently, there are 02 provinces, Lang Son and Quang Ninh, bordering Bac Giang province, where African Swine Fever has not passed 21 days, with a high risk of infection and outbreak of disease in livestock of Bac Giang province through the transportation and trading of animals and animal products.
In particular, the weather is currently in the transition to hot weather, creating favorable conditions for pathogens to thrive. Meanwhile, the vaccination rate for African Swine Fever in the province's pig herd is still low, leading to the risk of widespread outbreaks if not detected and handled promptly.
In order to proactively prevent, combat and control African Swine Fever in a timely and effective manner, limiting damage to pig farmers, the Department of Agriculture and Environment requests the People's Committees of districts, towns and cities to direct and mobilize resources in the area to organize and implement drastic, synchronous and effective prevention and control of African Swine Fever. Assign staff to closely monitor the disease situation in livestock herds, promptly detect and report to specialized agencies for warning and direction to thoroughly handle outbreaks, not allowing the disease to spread widely, according to the Bac Giang Provincial Electronic Information Portal .
