After Storm No. 13 (Kalmaegi) passed, Quy Nhon ward ( Gia Lai province) as well as neighboring areas were almost plunged into darkness due to widespread power outages. While the Gia Lai electricity industry is working day and night to fix the problem to restore power as soon as possible, in all residential areas, warm images of humanity appeared: a series of free battery charging points were opened to help people maintain contact and share after the storm.

Since the morning of November 7, many signs have appeared on the streets of Quy Nhon with the message "Free battery charging point". At each point, people gathered in large numbers, holding phones, spare chargers, flashlights... everyone trying to find some energy to connect with their loved ones after many hours of being out of contact.

In front of the small coffee shop on Nguyen Hue Street, wooden tables have been turned into “temporary charging stations”, with wires strung everywhere, and outlets divided into two or three. People sit close together, waiting for their phones to charge while asking about their homes and relatives. Some people bring their own outlets to share with others.

At Co.opmart Quy Nhon Supermarket, Mr. Nguyen Van Minh - Head of the supermarket's marketing team said: On the morning of November 7, the supermarket resumed operations after storm No. 13 (Kalmaegi) weakened and the weather gradually stabilized. In addition to business activities, Co.opmart Quy Nhon Supermarket also arranged a free battery charging area to serve people in the condition that many areas have not yet had electricity restored. Fans and drinking water systems are also prepared to create comfort for customers while waiting.

While waiting for her phone to be fully charged, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh (living in Quy Nhon Nam ward) confided: "The power has been out for the past few days, my phone's battery has run out, I can't contact my daughter who is studying in Ho Chi Minh City. Now that we have a charging place like this, we are very happy, just hoping that the phone will be fully charged so that we can call her, tell her that mom is fine, that our family is safe, so that she won't worry."

Not only supermarkets, many large service establishments also quickly joined hands. Seagull Hotel opened the ground floor lobby for people to charge their phones, flashlights and other necessary devices. Hotel staff brought more mineral water, guided guests to line up in an orderly manner, no one charged, no one hesitated.

“Seeing people helping each other like this warms my heart. In times of hardship, I can see how precious the humanity in Quy Nhon is,” said Tran Van Loi, a ride-hailing driver who was charging his phone.

On central streets such as Nguyen Hue, Tay Son, Tran Phu, many households and coffee shop owners also volunteered to bring generators to serve the community. Extending the power cord for the group of students who had just come to charge, Ms. Nguyen Thu Thuy - owner of a coffee shop on Xuan Dieu Street shared: "Power outages are a common suffering, those who have generators should help each other."
