On the morning of November 8, Vice Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Minh and representatives of relevant units, departments and localities inspected a number of irrigation works and flooded areas caused by heavy rain and floods that occurred on the evening of November 7 in Ham Thuan Nam and Ham Thuan communes.

Reporting in the affected area, the leader of Ham Thuan Nam Commune People's Committee said that due to the influence of storm Kalmaegi, on the afternoon of November 7, there was prolonged heavy rain in the upstream area of ​​Phan River and Tan Lap Lake.

A large amount of water poured into Lap Nghia and Lap Vinh villages. Starting from 6am on November 8, the water level in the two villages began to rise, causing localized flooding. As a result, 90 households were flooded and isolated; of which, 50 houses in Lap Vinh village were flooded to a depth of less than 1m.

In addition, about 100 hectares of dragon fruit and rice along the Phan River were flooded; 50 pigs and 150 chickens and ducks of local people were damaged.

Ham Thuan Nam Commune People's Committee said that heavy rains and floods caused water to overflow the roads connecting Hiep Tan village, Tan Thanh commune and Lap Duc village, Tan Lap commune; Song Dot bridge and Hiep Tan bridge were flooded by 0.5m. Local authorities and functional units were present in time to deploy rescue and remedial measures.

After listening to the report and inspecting the situation, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Minh requested the locality and forces to organize the evacuation of flooded households to safe places, to be completed by the morning of November 8. By all means, we must ensure absolute safety for the people and minimize property damage.

The provincial People's Committee also requested local authorities and functional units to provide necessities to people in flooded areas. Immediately after the water recedes, it is necessary to support people to stabilize their lives, especially the elderly and children. At the same time, assign officers and forces to be on duty 24/24 hours at flooded areas.

During a field inspection at Tan Lap Lake, Binh Thuan Irrigation Works Exploitation Company Limited reported to the provincial leaders about the reservoir's operations and operations.

Accordingly, on the evening of November 7, heavy rain in the Tan Lap lake basin caused a rapid increase in water flow to the lake. Currently, the lake is operating according to procedures, ensuring safety; the total overflow volume is 0.64 million m3 , accounting for 67.9% of the design flow.

The Company is currently continuing to closely monitor the flood situation. At the same time, it is closely coordinating with local authorities to promptly inform, respond, and ensure the safety of the project and downstream areas.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Minh praised the efforts and proactiveness of Binh Thuan Irrigation Works Exploitation Company Limited in the process of operating the reservoirs. Along with that, the Provincial People's Committee leader also noted that the Company needs to continue to proactively ensure absolute safety of the reservoirs.

In addition, there is a flexible water regulation plan to ensure absolute safety for people and minimize property damage to the people. The company needs to calculate appropriate water regulation to ensure water for people's daily life and production after the flood.

At the same time, it is necessary to regularly update the water situation in the upper Phan River, Tan Lap Lake... to proactively respond promptly when there is heavy rain.
