Production in Dak Lak
Dak Lak currently has about 41,000 hectares of durian, with an estimated output of 392,000 tons this year. Although it is harvest season, the quality of durian has many farmers and traders worried. The local agricultural sector is tightening quality control, especially regarding yellowing and cadmium residue.
Quality control
The Department of Agriculture and the Dak Lak Durian Association have coordinated with businesses and cooperatives to strengthen control, especially the indicators of yellowing and cadmium. Samples were taken to determine safe areas, and at the same time, guide businesses to build a traceability system.
Packing facilities and cooperatives are required to comply with strict procedures to ensure product safety and avoid price gouging or contract breaches that cause damage to farmers.
