Positive signals from export markets
According to statistics from the Customs Department, Vietnam's durian export activities continue to record impressive numbers. Accumulated in the first 9 months of 2025, durian export turnover has earned nearly 2.77 billion USD .
Notably, in September alone, export turnover jumped to 972 million USD , a sharp increase of 44.6% over the same period in 2024 and setting a new record for export value in a month.
China remains Vietnam’s largest durian consumer market. In September, the market spent $960 million on imports, accounting for 98.8% of total turnover. In the first nine months of the year, exports to China reached $2.59 billion, equivalent to 93.6% of the total export value of this industry.
Customs clearance activities have stabilized again.
Recently, there has been a backlog of durian in some localities, especially Dak Lak, due to some testing laboratories temporarily ceasing operations for maintenance or awaiting capacity reassessment. This has slowed down the progress of analyzing mandatory indicators for export to China, causing concern for businesses and farmers.
Faced with this situation, on October 24, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Hoang Trung chaired an urgent meeting, directing relevant units to quickly resolve the issue. After a week of drastic implementation, testing rooms have resumed operations, working overtime to ensure customs clearance progress. Currently, the testing situation for exported durian has basically returned to normal.
