Durian prices on November 21 recorded a strong increase, especially Thai durian grade A which reached 115,000 VND/kg at many purchasing warehouses in the Southwest and Central Highlands regions. The main driving force for this price increase comes from high export demand to the Chinese market during the off-season.

Price developments in key areas
Durian purchase prices vary significantly between major growing regions across the country, with the Southwest region recording the highest price.

Driven by export markets
Import demand from China remains a key factor in maintaining durian prices at high levels, especially during the off-season when supply is not abundant. In Dong Thap , one of the key growing areas, traders are actively purchasing Monthong durian at VND80,000 - 110,000/kg and Ri6 at VND60,000 - 80,000/kg.
Dong Thap province currently has over 28,000 hectares of durian, of which over 17,600 hectares are being harvested with an estimated output of over 350,000 tons per year. Thanks to crop conversion, inter-crop treatment and increased links with businesses, many farming households have recorded profits of over 1 billion VND/ha/year.
The general trend shows that promoting the issuance of growing area codes and increasing the number of enterprises licensed for official export is helping to stabilize output and minimize the risk of "good harvest, low price" for farmers.
