At the Quang Ngai Province Maternity and Pediatrics Hospital, since the beginning of November, the Respiratory Pediatrics Department has received 130 to 150 cases per day, with some days reaching 170 cases, double the number last month. Most children were admitted with coughs, runny noses, and high fevers. Many late cases have developed pneumonia, respiratory failure, and require mechanical ventilation.
Doctors say pneumonia is a dangerous complication of respiratory diseases if not detected and treated early. In addition, children may experience sepsis, respiratory failure and reduced resistance.
The health sector recommends that parents keep their children warm, clean their nose and throat regularly, supplement nutrition, and vaccinate them fully. When children show signs of high fever, severe cough, rapid breathing, or fatigue, they should be taken to a medical facility for timely examination and treatment to avoid serious complications.
