According to information from the Ministry of Industry and Trade, on November 10 in Washington DC (USA), a ministerial-level negotiation session took place within the framework of the bilateral agreement on reciprocal trade between Vietnam and the United States. The meeting was co-chaired by Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien, Head of the Vietnamese Government's negotiation delegation, and US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer.

During the negotiations, the two sides discussed and determined the direction for resolving the remaining issues and discussed in depth the bilateral trade relationship. Mr. Jamieson Greer highly appreciated the fact that the two countries agreed on a joint statement on the Framework for a Reciprocal, Fair and Balanced Trade Agreement - considered an important foundation for the early completion of the negotiation process.

The US side acknowledged Vietnam's goodwill, cooperative spirit and systematic approach to Washington's proposals, and responded positively to a number of Vietnam's recommendations.

Minister Nguyen Hong Dien affirmed that Vietnam is determined to build a balanced and sustainable economic and trade relationship with the US, and informed about many proactive measures to promote trade exchange between the two countries. He emphasized that the completion of the Reciprocal Trade Agreement will contribute to further strengthening the Vietnam-US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in many fields.

The two ministers agreed that this negotiation session is of great significance, creating a premise to resolve remaining obstacles and promote the negotiation process towards substantive results, for the common interests of the two countries.
