Pepper price today May 13 in the world market

In the world market, based on quotes from export enterprises and export prices in various countries, the International Pepper Community (IPC) has updated the prices of all types of pepper traded in the international market on May 12 (local time) as follows:

Indonesia's Lampung black pepper price remained unchanged from yesterday at $7,323/ton. Meanwhile, Muntok white pepper price also remained unchanged from yesterday at $9,918/ton.

Brazilian black pepper ASTA 570 price remained unchanged from yesterday at $6,800/mt.

Malaysia’s ASTA black pepper price remained unchanged from yesterday at $9,200/ton. Meanwhile, the country’s ASTA white pepper price remained stable from yesterday at $11,900/ton.

Prices of all types of pepper in Vietnam remained unchanged compared to yesterday. Of which, the price of 500 gr/l black pepper in Vietnam reached 6,700 USD/ton; 550 gr/l reached 6,800 USD/ton.

Similarly, Vietnam's white pepper price remained unchanged from yesterday at $9,700/ton.

Domestic pepper prices have been on an upward trend recently, mainly due to reduced supply after the harvest season, combined with farmers holding onto their stocks in anticipation of higher prices. The world market is also stable at a high level, creating momentum for domestic pepper prices to maintain their upward momentum.

According to the Import-Export Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade), experts believe that if demand from major markets such as the Middle East and Europe increases in the second quarter, pepper prices will likely continue to increase.

Although pepper prices are higher this year than last year, the expansion of new planting areas is not strong. The reason is that many localities no longer have land funds or farmers have switched to growing crops with higher economic value. Therefore, pepper planting areas are not expected to increase in 2025.

On the Brazilian side, the country is expected to harvest between 85,000 and 90,000 tons of pepper in 2025, a significant increase from 75,000 tons last year. The state of Espírito Santo alone is completing its first major harvest with a production of around 20,000 tons.

According to Comexstat data, Brazil exported 10,566 tons of pepper in April, earning $60.1 million. Compared to the previous month, the export volume decreased by 2.9% and the export value decreased by 12.9%. However, compared to the same period last year, the export volume increased sharply by 39.1% and nearly doubled in value.

Among the main markets, Vietnam imported 4,993 tons of pepper from Brazil in April, 5.7 times higher than the same period last year. Other markets such as the United Arab Emirates (AUE) imported 806 tons, up 6.6%; Senegal imported 737 tons, down 15%.

In the first 4 months of 2025, Brazil exported a total of 33,648 tons of pepper, earning 205.6 million USD. Compared to the same period in 2024, this figure increased by nearly 30% in volume and more than doubled in value.
