The International Pepper Community (IPC) forecasts that 2025 output could fall by more than 6% amid prolonged adverse weather conditions in many producing countries. India is forecast to see the sharpest decline of about 25%; Vietnam’s pepper output in 2025 is expected to fall by about 2% compared to the previous year.
At the same time, pepper prices in exporting countries have increased compared to the same period last year, benefiting growers but putting cost pressure on importers and processors. Purchasing power from the US, EU and China remains good, but international trading activities tend to be more cautious due to high costs and the risk of changes in tax policies from the US.

Update world pepper prices on the morning of May 5, 2025 |
In the domestic market, domestic pepper prices remain high, providing a stable source of income for farmers and encouraging hoarding instead of selling early. However, replanting has not been strong due to lack of land and the shift to other economic crops. According to the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA), exports in the second quarter are likely to slow down as high prices reduce long-term orders.
