Pepper price today 9/5 in world market

In the world market, based on quotes from export enterprises and export prices in various countries, the International Pepper Community (IPC) has updated the prices of pepper of all types traded in the international market on May 8 (local time) as follows:

Indonesia's Lampung black pepper price increased slightly compared to yesterday at 7,338 USD/ton (up 0.22%). In addition, Muntok white pepper price also increased slightly compared to yesterday at 9,939 USD/ton (up 0.22%).

Brazilian black pepper ASTA 570 price remained unchanged from yesterday at $6,800/mt.

Malaysia’s ASTA black pepper price remained unchanged from yesterday at $9,200/ton. Meanwhile, the country’s ASTA white pepper price remained stable from yesterday at $11,900/ton.

Prices of all types of pepper in Vietnam remained unchanged compared to yesterday. Of which, the price of 500 gr/l black pepper in Vietnam reached 6,700 USD/ton; 550 gr/l reached 6,800 USD/ton.

Similarly, Vietnam's white pepper price remained unchanged from yesterday at $9,700/ton.

In the first 4 months of 2025, Vietnam exported a total of 74,250 tons of pepper, including 63,124 tons of black pepper and 11,126 tons of white pepper.

Total export turnover reached 510.6 million USD, of which black pepper accounted for 423.2 million USD and white pepper was 87.4 million USD. Compared to the same period in 2024, export output decreased by 10.6%, but export value increased sharply by 45%.

The main reason is the sharp increase in average export prices. Black pepper reached an average price of 6,749 USD/ton, up 96% compared to the previous year. White pepper also increased by 73.8%, reaching 8,611 USD/ton. High prices help Vietnam earn large turnover despite the decrease in volume.

The US remained the largest market, importing 16,682 tonnes, accounting for 22.5% of the total volume but down 26.7% year-on-year. Strong growth markets included India (up 6.4%), the UAE (up 42.2%) and especially China with an increase of nearly double (94.4%). Meanwhile, exports to some countries such as the Netherlands, Russia, the UK, Egypt, Türkiye and France declined.

For white pepper, China is the largest market (1,557 tons), followed by Germany (1,481 tons) and the US (1,200 tons). These are countries with high demand for more processed pepper products.

Regarding enterprises, Olam Vietnam leads with 7,692 tons of pepper exported, accounting for 10.4% of the market share, although slightly down compared to the same period. Phuc Sinh has an impressive growth of 32.2% with 6,712 tons. Nedspice ranks third with 6,635 tons, slightly down.

Some large enterprises such as Tran Chau and Haprosimex JSC recorded sharp decreases of 27.3% and 25.2% respectively.

In the white pepper segment, key exporters including Olam Vietnam (1,628 tons), Nedspice Vietnam (1,350 tons) and Phuc Sinh, continued to affirm their leading role in the market.
