USD price today 4/20/2025: Free USD increases to record level

The USD price in banks has increased throughout the week. Currently, Vietcombank buys by transfer at 25,760 VND and sells at 26,120 VND, an increase of 200 VND compared to the end of last week; BIDV buys by transfer at 25,760 VND and sells at 26,120 VND, an increase of 200 VND... Similarly, the free USD price also jumped to 26,340 VND for buying and 26,440 VND for selling, 300 VND higher than the end of last week. This is the highest price in the free market ever.

This week, the euro price followed the USD trend when increasing. Specifically, Vietcombank bought euro by transfer at 29,026 VND, sold at 30,310 VND, an increase of 513 - 535 VND after a week. The Japanese yen also continued its upward trend when Vietcombank bought at 177.61 VND, sold at 187 VND, an increase of nearly 3 VND in the buying direction and an increase of nearly 4 VND in the selling direction.

Free USD price hits record high

Meanwhile, the world USD price continued to decline. At the end of the week, the USD-Index stood at 99.23 points, down 0.55 points compared to last weekend. The greenback had a slight recovery during the week but has not yet escaped its three-year low. The currency has fallen about 10% since President Donald Trump took office nearly three months ago.

According to some analysts, the decline in confidence in the USD is becoming increasingly evident through many signs, especially growing concerns about the uncertainty about the future of the US economy and the USD. International media reported on April 17 that President Donald Trump criticized Fed Chairman Jerome Powell, saying "he is always too slow, a bit sluggish. And I am not happy with him". The disagreement between President Donald Trump and the head of the Fed makes investors even more apprehensive as it is difficult to predict the direction of the monetary and financial policy of the world's leading economy. That makes many people aggressively sell the USD.../.
