In today's trading session, world gold prices witnessed a sharp decline, falling from a record peak of 3,499 USD/ounce in yesterday's session to around 3,300 USD/ounce, down about 5.7%.

After a series of "hot" increases, the world gold price today (April 23) dropped sharply by nearly 200 USD/ounce, down to around 3,300 USD/ounce. The main reason is that investors' optimism shifted from gold to stocks, along with the recovery of the USD after US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent hinted that US-China trade tensions could cool down.

Despite the sharp decline, experts remain optimistic about the outlook for gold prices. JPMorgan Bank predicts that gold prices could surpass $4,000 an ounce due to rising recession risks, escalating US tariffs and prolonged US-China trade tensions. Expert Alexander Zumpfe from Heraeus Metals Germany believes that political instability and concerns about monetary policy will continue to support gold prices. Current technical support levels are $3,450 an ounce and $3,400 an ounce, with the next upside target being $3,600 an ounce.
