At 8:45 a.m. today, Vietnam time, the international gold price was trading at $3,280/ounce, down $40/ounce compared to last weekend. The gold price also retreated from the psychological level of $3,300/ounce and is far from the record peak of $3,500/ounce set last week.
If calculated from the record peak, the world gold price has lost about 220 USD/ounce (6.2%), a sharp decrease in less than a week. Precious metals on the international market are fluctuating contrary to investors' expectations, as Kitco's survey on gold price trends this week shows that many people continue to expect gold prices to continue to increase.
In line with world prices, the price of SJC gold bars and gold rings also decreased.
Domestic gold price goes down following world price
Currently, the price of SJC gold bars is listed by SJC and PNJ enterprises at around 118.5 million VND/tael for buying and 120.5 million VND/tael for selling, down 500,000 VND/tael compared to the end of last week. Compared to the peak price of SJC gold bars at 124 million VND/tael, the gold price has cooled down by about 3.5 million VND.
Similarly, the price of 99.99 gold rings and jewelry gold of all kinds was listed by businesses at 113.5 million VND/tael for buying and 116 million VND/tael for selling - down 500,000 VND/tael compared to the end of last week.
With the current developments, the price of SJC gold bars is continuing to widen the gap with the price of gold rings to about 4 million VND/tael.
Domestic gold prices have adjusted but slower than the world price decline. Currently, the world gold price converted according to the listed exchange rate is about 103.8 million VND/tael.
