Gold price skyrockets, oil goes up, USD cools down

At the end of the trading session on October 28, the price of 4-digit 9 gold bars at SJC Ho Chi Minh City was listed at 70.15 million VND per tael for buying and 70.95 million VND per tael for selling. The price of 4-digit 9 gold bars at SJC Hanoi was at 70.15 million VND per tael for buying and 70.97 million VND per tael for selling.

Doji gold bar price in Hanoi is traded at 70.1 million VND per tael for buying and 71 million VND per tael for selling.

The international spot gold price on the Kitco floor ended the week at $2,005.6 an ounce. The gold futures price was at $1,998.5 an ounce.

Gold prices on the world market reached their highest level since May at the end of the week. Gold prices increased as the conflict in the Middle East escalated. Experts said that gold prices could continue to increase as this is considered a safe "haven".

The central exchange rate between the Vietnamese Dong and the US dollar announced by the State Bank on October 27 was 24,107 VND per USD, up 12 VND from the previous session. The USD price at commercial banks on October 28 was listed around 24,360-24,730 VND per USD (buy - sell).

The world USD price stagnated at the end of the week. The DXY index - measuring the strength of the USD against 6 major currencies - ended the week at 106.58 points, down 0.02% compared to the previous session.

Oil prices at the end of the week continued to increase from the previous session. Oil prices increased due to concerns about escalating tensions in the Middle East, affecting oil supplies. At the end of the week, Brent crude oil prices were traded at $90.48 per barrel, while WTI crude oil prices were at $85.54 per barrel.

In the domestic market, the selling prices of gasoline and oil today, October 29, are applied according to the prices at the management session on the afternoon of October 23 of the Ministry of Finance - Industry and Trade. Accordingly, gasoline and oil prices are adjusted up slightly.

Specifically, the retail price of E5 gasoline increased to VND22,360 per liter. The price of RON 95 gasoline increased to VND23,510 per liter. Meanwhile, the price of diesel increased to VND22,480 per liter and the retail price of kerosene increased to VND22,750 per liter.
