World oil prices
As of 12:00 noon today Vietnam time, Brent oil price was recorded at 74.87 USD/barrel, while WTI oil reached 71.61 USD/barrel.
Brent crude rose 1.04% in the previous session, while WTI gained 1.19%. Both crudes had a strong session on June 13, rising nearly 7% to their highest levels since January 2025.
The increase was largely due to repeated airstrikes between Israel and Iran, the latest of which on June 15 caused civilian casualties and raised the risk of a full-blown regional conflict.
The conflict is also threatening the Strait of Hormuz, a global energy chokepoint through which about 18-19 million barrels of oil pass each day, accounting for nearly 20% of global consumption. Any disruption in the area could send oil prices soaring in the short term.
According to analysts, OPEC+'s spare capacity is currently roughly equivalent to Iran's oil production, about 3.3 million barrels per day. However, activating these spare supplies in an emergency also requires time and close coordination.
Faced with the escalating situation, Western leaders are pinning their hopes on the G7 Summit opening on June 15 in Canada, hoping to reach a diplomatic agreement to ease tensions and prevent the risk of disruption to the global energy supply chain.
Domestic gasoline prices
On June 16, 2025, domestic gasoline prices remained stable at the level adjusted in the most recent adjustment period on June 12. In this adjustment period, the Ministry of Industry and Trade - Ministry of Finance decided not to set aside and not to use the Gasoline Price Stabilization Fund for all products, including E5RON92, RON95 gasoline, diesel, kerosene and fuel oil.
Accordingly, the retail prices of popular petroleum products on the market remain at the following levels: E5RON92 gasoline is no higher than VND19,462/liter, about VND505/liter lower than RON95-III gasoline. RON95-III gasoline is at a maximum of VND19,967/liter.
For oil products, diesel 0.05S is sold at no more than 17,700 VND/liter, kerosene remains at 17,511 VND/liter, and fuel oil 180CST 3.5S has a maximum price of 16,461 VND/kg.
