Oil prices soar on world markets due to Middle East conflict
World oil prices today, June 24, 2025, are under great pressure from geopolitical instability in the Middle East. Three major European oil and gas corporations – BP, TotalEnergies and Eni – have begun evacuating employees from oil fields in Iraq due to concerns that Iran could attack energy facilities in the region in retaliation for Israel and the United States.
Specifically, BP, the operator of the Rumaila oil field, redeployed personnel as a precaution. Eni reduced the number of employees at the Zubair field from 260 to 90, while TotalEnergies evacuated about 60% of its staff. These moves followed US airstrikes on Iran's nuclear facilities and Tehran's missile launches targeting US bases in Qatar and Iraq.
Former CIA analyst Helima Croft warned that Iran or its proxies could attack Western energy facilities, potentially disrupting global oil supplies. These tensions are pushing crude oil prices up sharply, putting great pressure on the world oil market.
Retail gasoline prices increase dramatically after adjustment
On June 24, the retail price of gasoline according to the price list announced by Petrolimex in regions 1 and 2 (46 provinces and cities currently applying) was adjusted up.
Specifically:
E5 RON 92 gasoline price increased by 1,170 VND/liter

Diesel price increased by 1,450 VND/liter
Kerosene price increased by 1,410 VND/liter
Fuel oil price increased by 1,180 VND/kg
Regarding discounts, some petroleum businesses such as Hoang Trong, Tu Luc and MIPEC have applied a discount of 0 VND/liter for petroleum products.
Forecast of gasoline prices next period
According to a representative of a petroleum company, domestic petroleum prices will continue to fluctuate according to the world market. With the current developments, retail petroleum prices in the upcoming management period may increase sharply:
RON 95-III gasoline: Expected to increase by 700-800 VND/liter.
E5 RON 92-II gasoline: Expected to increase by 700-800 VND/liter.
Diesel: Expected to increase by 800-1,000 VND/liter.
Geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and pressure from the international market are putting domestic gasoline prices at risk of increasing, directly affecting consumers and economic sectors.
