National Press Awards have 2 new award groups

This year's National Press Awards will have two new award groups: Multimedia Journalism and Creative Journalism, bringing the total to 13 award groups.

The above information was just announced by the Vietnam Journalists Association at the opening ceremony of the preliminary round of the 19th National Press Awards 2024, which took place on April 22.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Loi, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association, Chairman of the Preliminary Council, said that the 19th National Press Awards 2024 had the largest number of participating press works ever, with 1,962 works from 17/21 inter-associations, 29 affiliated associations and 59/63 provincial and municipal journalist associations.

This shows the strong attraction of the award and the interest and positive response of journalists' associations at all levels, especially at a time when press agencies are focusing on organizing and rearranging according to the revolution of streamlining the Party and State apparatus.

This year, the National Press Awards enters its 19th year, also the first year of implementing the National Press Awards Charter (amended and supplemented) in 2024 and a number of new regulations and award groups.

Accordingly, the award has 2 new award groups: Multimedia journalism (Infographic, Video clips, Podcast, Live-stream awards), Creative journalism (creative journalism works, products, programs), bringing the total number of award groups to 13.

This year, the number of news and articles on electronic newspapers and radio has increased significantly, while the number of political works and investigative reports on printed newspapers has decreased slightly.

The General Secretariat has pre-qualified 57 works and 1,905 works qualified to participate in the preliminary round according to regulations. The preliminary council will conduct evaluations to select outstanding works for the final round, before announcing the official results and organizing the award ceremony on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 2025).
