On the afternoon of June 3, the Final Jury of the 19th National Press Awards 2024 completed the judging process. Of the 183 entries in the final round, the Jury discussed, evaluated, and voted to select 13 A prizes, 27 B prizes, 49 C prizes, and 36 Encouragement prizes.
Speaking at the opening of the final round, Mr. Le Quoc Minh, member of the Party Central Committee, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Education Commission, President of the Vietnam Journalists Association , Chairman of the National Press Awards Council, emphasized the significance of the nearly 20-year journey of the award and the contributions of the press in the cause of national construction.
According to him, this is not only a noble award honoring the best works and authors every year, but also a useful annual professional activity that spreads widely in all levels of the Association.
Especially this year, when the country solemnly celebrates the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam and the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day, the National Press Awards have even greater significance in affirming the great contributions of generations of Vietnamese journalists.
Notably, 2024 is the first year that the National Press Awards will be implemented according to the revised Charter, adding two new categories: Multimedia Journalism and Creative Journalism.
“The preliminary and final judging panels continue to be inherited and supplemented. The organization of the competition is carried out in a systematic and systematic manner by the Secretariat, attracting the active and enthusiastic participation of journalists and collaborators nationwide,” said Mr. Le Quoc Minh.
In the country, 2024 is an important year in implementing the goals of the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, promoting the work of Party building and rectification, studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style, especially the revolution of streamlining and restructuring the apparatus. In that context, press work has achieved many outstanding results, closely following the Party's direction and the practical situation of the country.

“Many press agencies have innovated, approached modern journalism technology, developed multi-platform, multimedia journalism and creative forms of journalism to increase public appeal and accelerate digital transformation,” said Mr. Minh.
Thanks to that, in addition to central press agencies, some local newspapers and radio stations also had significant changes in the way of choosing topics and themes and implementing them in new and modern ways, which were highly appreciated by the Preliminary Council for both quality and form of expression.
Reporting at the Final Round, Mr. Nguyen Duc Loi, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association, Chairman of the Preliminary Council of the 19th National Press Awards, assessed that the works submitted to this year's Awards demonstrated their adherence to major topics from politics , economics, culture, society, security, defense and aspects of life in 2024. The press promptly and vividly reflected important events and issues of the country with prominent topics.

In the economic field, the works focused on efforts to implement the 2024 socio-economic development plan, major issues such as digital transformation, green transformation, and green economic development. In terms of politics and society, the press has extensively reflected on the process of streamlining the apparatus, reforming institutions, and rearranging administrative units; the process of building and rectifying the Party; inspecting, supervising, and controlling power associated with the fight against corruption, waste, and negativity; fighting against erroneous and hostile viewpoints; and promoting the spirit of great national unity.
In addition, many hot social issues were also mentioned frankly such as the damage caused by Typhoon Yagi, deforestation, overexploitation of mineral resources, water pollution; the destruction of smuggled and counterfeit goods; the problem of driving tests; the Thich Minh Tue phenomenon; human trafficking and the darkness in charity shelters. The examples of good people doing good deeds, portraits of young female doctors, blind students, female teachers in mountainous areas, party cell secretaries in remote villages... with noble, convincing and touching acts were also portrayed quite clearly.
The 19th National Press Awards Ceremony in 2024 will be solemnly held on the evening of June 21 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day.
