Pickleball tournament "Dan Tri 20 years - Bright new day": Attractive festival

The pickleball tournament "Dan Tri 20 years - Bright new day" co-organized by Dan Tri newspaper and Vietnam Pickleball Sports Forum Joint Stock Company (PICKFAIR) will take place at Dai Kim Pickleball Complex (Hoang Mai, Hanoi) on July 5 and 6, attracting the attention of many people.

Before the tournament, we had an interesting conversation with journalist Nguyen Xuan Toan, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Dan Tri Newspaper, about the sporting event on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the establishment of Dan Tri Electronic Newspaper.

Sir, why did Dan Tri newspaper choose pickleball to organize on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of Dan Tri electronic newspaper?

- Along with content activities, Dan Tri newspaper always aims to reach readers with community activities. With the pickleball tournament "Dan Tri 20 years - Bright new day", we not only want to connect the collective spirit within the agency but also to connect with colleagues in the journalism industry.

This tournament will also be an opportunity for us to interact with readers, creating good interactions with readers who have loved and trusted Dan Tri newspaper for the past 20 years. Not only the pickleball tournament this July, but also our previous sporting events have the same spirit.

That was the sports event "Dan Tri Yoga Festival" that we organized in 2023 and set the record for "The most attended yoga performance program in Vietnam at the same time and location" with 5,000 participants taking place at My Dinh Stadium, Hanoi .

Last April, Dan Tri newspaper also organized the Aqua Warriors Halong Bay 2025 tournament taking place on the coast of Ha Long Bay (Quang Ninh) - a world natural heritage, attracting more than 2,000 athletes to participate with many extremely attractive competitions.

It can be said that the sports events organized by Dan Tri newspaper all aim to spread the beauty and positive values of sports activities to the majority of Vietnamese people and international friends, contributing to inspiring optimism in the community, further connecting the spirit of solidarity in each person.

The theme of the tournament is “Dan Tri 20 years – Bright new day”, can you tell us more about this impressive name?

- The Pickleball Tournament is held this July to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the establishment of Dan Tri electronic newspaper as well as the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2025).

The name “Dan Tri 20 years – Bright new days” is not only the name of the pickleball tournament but also our consistent theme with many important events to look back at the process of birth, development and building the brand in the hearts of readers over the past 20 years.

We want to name ourselves “Brilliant New Day” with the meaning of connecting the success of the past and present to develop more brilliantly in the future. We want to aim for new goals, new positions higher than before, all for the purpose of serving readers better and to gain their trust more.

According to you, what will be the attraction of the pickleball tournament "Dan Tri 20 years - Bright new day" thanks to?

- As far as I know, the pickleball tournament organized by Dan Tri newspaper is the third press agency to organize a tournament in this sport. Of course, each organizing agency will have its own characteristics, but for Dan Tri , the attraction of the tournament is not only in its high competitiveness, with many attractive competitions for both amateur and professional athletes, but also in the opportunity for everyone to share the spirit of humanity and kindness to remote areas and difficult circumstances.

The tournament is expected to attract more than 500 athletes. The special thing is that all the fees we collect from the athletes (at 500,000 VND/person) will not be used to cover the costs of the organization but will be used to support the construction of 5 charity houses.

In April 2024, the Editorial Board of Dan Tri Newspaper set a goal of building 100 Charity Houses in 2024-2025 to help extremely disadvantaged households eliminate temporary housing in response to the temporary housing elimination movement launched by the Government. However, by March 14, 2025, less than a year later, Dan Tri Newspaper had completed the goal of building 100 Charity Houses.

Due to the fact that there are still many households facing housing difficulties, we have set a new goal: in 2025, we will continue to support 100 households and build 100 Charity houses, increasing the total target of supporting the construction of Charity houses in 2025 to 200 houses, with the goal of completing them before October 31.

Up to now, with the help of readers and philanthropists, Dan Tri newspaper has started construction of 130 Charity houses nationwide, of which 118 have been inaugurated.

Therefore, when athletes register to participate in the pickleball tournament “Dan Tri 20 years – Bright new day” they also join hands with us to carry out the tradition of “humanity, humanity, and kindness” of Dan Tri newspaper over the past two decades.

Besides the pickleball tournament, what other major sporting events does Dan Tri newspaper have in 2025?

- Many exciting sporting events organized by Dan Tri newspaper will take place this summer. In addition to the pickleball tournament held in July, we also have the Aqua Warriors Quang Binh 2025 tournament in August and then the Aqua Warriors Van Don 2025 tournament in September.

We believe that these will be useful playgrounds for the community, an opportunity for everyone to meet, share and spread the spirit of positive living and love.
