The 2023 Vietnam Golden Ball Award will include 14 categories.

According to the Organizing Committee of the award, this year, in addition to the categories that have been regularly awarded, the Organizing Committee has added the "Dedication Award" category for players who have devoted their youth to the development of national football. Thus, the 2023 Golden Ball Award will include 14 categories: Golden, Silver, Bronze Ball for men; Golden, Silver, Bronze Ball for women; Golden, Silver, Bronze Ball for futsal (men); Outstanding foreign player; Outstanding young male player; Outstanding young female player; Dedication Award (2 awards). The award ceremony of the 2023 Vietnam Golden Ball Award is expected to take place in January 2024 in Ho Chi Minh City.

In the Men's Golden Ball category, there will be competition between names such as: Do Hung Dung, Nguyen Hoang Duc, Que Ngoc Hai, Nguyen Quang Hai, Pham Tuan Hai, Doan Van Hau, Dang Van Lam, Nguyen Tien Linh, Do Duy Manh, Tran Nguyen Manh, Lam Ti Phong, Hoang Vu Samson, Ho Tan Tai, Phan Tuan Tai... With the deadline for voting taking place at the end of the year, the candidates will have more opportunities to show themselves when joining the Vietnamese team to participate in the second qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup.

Meanwhile, in the category of Women's Golden Ball and Futsal, the list of candidates is still open for candidates to demonstrate their ability through the 2023 National Futsal Cup (November) and the 2023 National Women's Football Championship (ending on December 28). In the initial preliminary list, the names of candidates for the Women's Golden Ball appear: Nguyen Thi Tuyet Dung, Hoang Thi Loan, Nguyen Thi Thanh Nha, Huynh Nhu, Tran Thi Kim Thanh, Nguyen Thi Bich Thuy, Tran Thi Thuy Trang, Duong Thi Van, Pham Hai Yen...

The fact that the domestic football season ends later than usual (until the end of December) further shows that Vietnamese football is going through a busy 2023. That gives players more opportunities to show their talent and delegates more tournaments to observe before "choosing a place to entrust their gold".

The orientation and determination of the Vietnam Golden Ball Award is to recognize the efforts and contributions of the players. The official categories of the award are voted by delegates and the Organizing Committee only summarizes the results of the ballots."

According to the plan, in early November 2023, the Organizing Committee will send invitations to participate in voting for the award along with a list of candidates to delegates including football experts, coaches of national teams, coaches, captains of V-League clubs, women's teams, futsal teams and reporters from newspapers and radio stations across the country./.
