On the afternoon of August 15, after more than 30 minutes of trying to control the situation, the staff of the Thu Thiem Tunnel Management Center was able to bring the "lost" cow out of the tunnel. Traffic police and ward police were present to organize traffic flow on both sides of the tunnel to avoid prolonged congestion.
According to some witnesses, at around 2:00 p.m. the same day, an unattended cow was grazing on an empty lot near the Saigon River tunnel, on Mai Chi Tho Street.
At this time, some vehicles passing through the tunnel honked loudly, causing the cow to panic and run straight into the tunnel.
Through the camera system, the tunnel management staff discovered the incident and mobilized many people to approach the cow, trying to lure it out of the tunnel towards Vo Van Kiet Street.
The incident caused traffic congestion in front of the tunnel for about 30 minutes. Fortunately, no unfortunate incidents occurred. The owner of the cow, after discovering the “lost” cow, went to the police station to work.
Cattle running onto major roads, especially into the Saigon River tunnel area, is very dangerous, affecting traffic safety and order, and potentially causing high traffic accidents.
Authorities recommend that livestock farmers, especially those in key traffic areas, keep their animals carefully and avoid them moving to these locations, causing traffic disruption. Violations like this must be strictly handled to avoid unfortunate consequences and ensure the safety of vehicles on the road.
