From 10:00 AM this morning (May 19th), the Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet and Nha Trang - Cam Lam expressways will officially be put into operation. Thus, within just 20 days, Binh Thuan province will have two expressways in operation, connecting traffic seamlessly with the Central coastal region and the Southern key economic zone.
While the Dau Giay - Phan Thiet expressway winds through vast rubber plantations and dragon fruit orchards, the Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet expressway traverses lush green rice paddies, wind and solar power farms, and majestic hills and mountains. Due to its mountainous terrain, millions of cubic meters of rock had to be removed during construction. From today, the Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet expressway opens, reducing travel time from Ho Chi Minh City to Vinh Hao (approximately 245 km) to about 3 hours (half the previous time). This expressway features 6 interchanges connecting to national and provincial roads, bringing tourists closer to famous tourist destinations in Binh Thuan such as Co Thach Beach, Hon Cau Tourist Area, and the Bau Trang National Scenic Area.
Wherever highways extend, more potential is unlocked (tourism, wind power, solar power, high-tech agriculture). In fact, localities with highways passing through them see their key economic sectors accelerate compared to previous periods, as bottlenecks are removed. The recent boom in tourism in Binh Thuan is a prime example. Not only tourism, but real estate projects in Binh Thuan are also experiencing renewed activity, as investors choose the province to develop their projects. It is expected that today (May 19th) will see the signing ceremony to restart the Novaworld Phan Thiet project, after a period of stagnation due to the difficulties of the real estate market.
Today also marks the 133rd anniversary of the birth of beloved President Ho Chi Minh (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2023). During his lifetime, President Ho Chi Minh paid special attention to transportation. He affirmed, "Transportation is the lifeblood of all work. Good transportation makes everything easy. Poor transportation causes stagnation." Applying his perspective to the development of the transportation sector, along with modern airport and seaport projects, the Party and Government are striving to build the North-South expressway, over 2,000 km long, passing through 32 provinces and cities, considering it a vital transportation artery creating new growth momentum for the country.
