Driving instructor who hit and killed a teacher turns himself in

On the evening of October 24, speaking with VietNamNet reporters , the leader of Huong Khe District Police ( Ha Tinh ) said that driver Nguyen Van Hieu, who drove the car that caused the fatal accident, had turned himself in to the police.

“At around 1 p.m. on October 24, driver Hieu surrendered. Hieu’s car was temporarily detained by the police for investigation. The police have now received the driver and are taking statements and consolidating the case file according to regulations,” said the leader of Huong Khe District Police.

Previously, at around 9:00 p.m. on October 23, Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu, a driving instructor at a school in Ha Tinh, was driving a car (license plate unknown) in Huong Khe district, Ha Tinh.

When reaching the intersection of Ho Chi Minh trail, in Huong Khe town, the car driven by Mr. Hieu hit teacher Phan Van N. (born in 1964, teacher at Chu Van An Secondary School) who was riding a bicycle on the road.

The strong collision caused teacher N. to die on the spot. Mr. Hieu then drove away from the scene.
