Social networks are buzzing with information that teacher PL - homeroom teacher of class 12A1 at Nguyen Van Linh High School, District 8, Ho Chi Minh City - texted students with content related to "inviting" students to take extra classes.
The teacher texted the students: "Guys, I can't solve the problems in class. And I see that you don't take extra classes. So you only learn what you learn in class, right? I can't teach you everything from theory to basic exercises in class (I stop teaching after class). You have to learn the rest yourself."
Then, this teacher continued to text: "You guys don't really take chemistry classes? What do you understand?"
Through discussion, the leader of Nguyen Van Linh High School said that the school had grasped the incident and asked Ms. PL to write a report.

In the report, Ms. PL said that at the beginning of the 2024-2025 school year, she received an assignment from the school to teach chemistry and be the homeroom teacher of class 12A1. The class created a common group consisting of class members and the homeroom teacher.
"During the first time of studying, through discussions with teachers who taught the class last year, I realized that the students were still weak and had lost knowledge after the summer, so I advised them to take extra subjects that are oriented towards graduation exams to facilitate and get into the desired university. They can study at a center or with a few teachers that they find receptive.
Second, according to the general learning situation of the class, I taught and supplemented the 11th grade knowledge for the students (because they were not good at studying and did not review at all during the summer vacation, so they almost forgot everything). I discussed with the class that with the allocated time, I only had time to teach the basic exercises, I could not teach advanced knowledge in time" - Ms. PL wrote in the report.
Also in this report, Ms. PL admitted that the above incident was "cut and posted on Facebook by students, causing negative effects on teachers in general, our school and the school's teachers in particular."
Regarding Ms. PL's case, Mr. Nguyen Tan Si, principal of Nguyen Van Linh High School, said that Ms. PL violated the regulations on extra teaching and learning. Therefore, Ms. L. will not receive additional income for the third quarter of 2024, affecting her competitive evaluation.
In addition, the school also evaluated the incident related to Ms. PL's personal competition evaluation and year-end staff evaluation.
