Cam Lo High School, Cam Lo District has over 350 candidates participating in the 2025 High School Graduation Exam. These days, teachers and students of the school are trying their best to review with the highest determination. This year, the school organized the review session from the end of March 2025, later than previous years, and extended the review session until closer to the exam date to help 12th grade students limit the situation of forgetting knowledge before the exam date.

Along with reviewing, teachers also give students practice test questions based on the sample test structure previously provided by the Ministry of Education and Training . According to some review teachers, this year's test has many new points, some questions may be in the specialized program and not in the general program.

This causes disadvantages for candidates from schools that do not organize specialized programs. So although there are sample questions from the Ministry of Education and Training, not only students but also some teachers feel quite confused.

Speaking to reporters, Mr. Le Van Hung, a math teacher at Cam Lo High School, said that the 2025 high school graduation exam will not simply test book knowledge but will instead assess the ability to apply knowledge in practice. Students will find it difficult to achieve high scores if they rely solely on memorization and luck.

“With the new exam structure like this year, I think it will be difficult for candidates to achieve high scores. In previous years, in the mock exams organized by the school, the number of students achieving a score of 5 and below was quite small, but this year the number of students achieving this score has increased. Therefore, to help students feel secure in the upcoming important exam, we are actively reviewing for the exam and at the same time helping them stabilize their psychology, avoiding excessive anxiety that will affect the exam results.

In particular, teachers let students review very carefully and grasp basic knowledge, theory, and exercises before moving on to advanced exercises to limit errors during the exam," said Mr. Hung.

Since early May 2025, Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted has organized high school graduation exam review sessions for grade 12 students with a duration of 6 periods/week/subject. Here, teachers will review the basic knowledge system, guide students to solve questions and organize mock exams based on the exam matrix according to the model provided by the Ministry of Education and Training. After receiving the results, students will rely on the comments of subject teachers to continue to review on their own to limit shortcomings.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hai Xoan, Deputy Head of the Literature Department, Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted, said that teachers in charge of exam preparation will continue to accompany students in the exam preparation process at home through online forms. "With the innovations in the 2025 high school graduation exam, Literature as well as other exam subjects will change," Ms. Xoan emphasized. Specifically, the exam structure consists of 2 parts: Reading comprehension and writing. In which, reading comprehension includes 5 questions at the thinking level: 2 recognition questions, 2 understanding questions and 1 application question. The writing part includes 2 questions: 1 question for writing an argumentative paragraph (society/literature) and 1 question for writing an argumentative essay (society/literature).

In terms of knowledge, the materials appearing in the test are not included in all three current textbooks. Students cannot learn by heart but need to practice a series of skills such as: reading and analyzing the questions, answering reading comprehension questions, writing the right type of essay, analyzing and synthesizing the problem. If the reading comprehension material is a literary text, the writing part will be writing a literary argumentative paragraph and writing a social argumentative essay.

Students must have a firm grasp of the genre characteristics of texts according to the requirements of the 2018 GeneralEducation Program. In this section, students have learned in the literature knowledge section of each lesson. For the literary argumentative essay section, Ms. Xoan said that students not only need to be equipped with text creation skills and argumentative operations, but also need to increase their practice of reading comprehension and writing with texts outside of textbooks, especially texts equivalent to works studied in grades 11 and 12.

In particular, the ability to relate and connect literary content with life and personal experience will help the writing become more profound and in-depth. “In 120 minutes, you will encounter many difficulties to complete the test. But with what you have reviewed, I believe you will have enough courage and confidence to conquer the 2025 high school graduation exam,” said Ms. Xoan. It is known that this year, Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted will have 268 candidates participating in this important exam.

With nearly 10 years of experience teaching high school graduation exams, Mr. Le Van Liem, a math teacher at Huong Phung High School, Huong Hoa District, predicts that the 2025 high school graduation exam will cause many difficulties for candidates, especially students in remote areas. "This year's exam will have innovations in the way questions are created, the structure of the exam, and the way scores are calculated. For example, in math, the exam will include different types of questions instead of 50 multiple choice questions as before.

In particular, in the true/false question format, each question has 4 ideas. If the candidate chooses exactly one idea in the question, he/she gets 0.1 point, two ideas get 0.25 points, three ideas get 0.5 points, and 4 ideas get 1 point, instead of dividing each idea equally with 0.25 points as before.

If not careful, candidates will easily lose points,” Mr. Liem explained. It is known that in order to help grade 12 students achieve the highest exam results, the school has actively organized review sessions, giving students access to exercises and exam questions from basic to advanced.

At the same time, we encourage students to practice more outside of class, and encourage them to maintain their mental and physical health before the exam. “Compared to students in the lowlands, students in mountainous, remote schools such as Huong Phung High School have less access to advanced exercises and the latest mock exams. However, with the amount of knowledge that teachers impart, we hope that students will practice diligently and confidently enter this important final exam,” Mr. Liem advised.

The 2025 high school graduation exam will take place on June 26-27, marking many new points compared to previous years. According to information from the Ministry of Education and Training , for candidates following the new program, this year's exam will take place in 3 sessions, one session less than in 2024.

The three exams will include the following subjects: Literature (120 minutes), Math (90 minutes) and an optional exam of 2 subjects (each subject 50 minutes). Candidates following the old program will take 5 exams: Math, Literature, Foreign Language and two combined exams (Natural Sciences or Social Sciences).

In addition, the graduation rate has also been adjusted, with 50% of the transcript score and 50% of the exam score. Incentive points from vocational certificates have been eliminated and international language certificates are no longer converted to 10 points. These changes force students to adapt quickly, while increasing the pressure in reviewing and preparing for the exam.
