Hanoi officially holds 10th grade exams: 103,000 students compete for 81,000 places

8am this morning will be the start time for the literature exam for the 10th grade entrance exam for public schools in Hanoi for the 2025-2026 school year.

More than 103,000 students compete for 81,000 public school places, with an admission rate of 78.6%.

Compared to 127,000 9th grade students in the 2024-2025 school year in Hanoi, the rate of students entering public 10th grade after junior high school is about 64%.

This number increases by about 3% compared to 2024, corresponding to about 1,500 more scholarships.

The number of candidates in Hanoi this year is 1.3 times that of Ho Chi Minh City, nearly 7 times that of Quang Ninh, nearly 4 times that of Hai Phong and nearly 26 times that of Bac Kan. With the largest scale in the country, the Hanoieducation sector mobilizes all its resources to ensure the organization of the exam safely and effectively.

Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training Tran The Cuong also worked with the Hanoi Buddhist Sangha Executive Committee, requesting that pagodas near exam sites open during the 10th grade exam so that parents can rest and sightsee while waiting for their children.

He also called on households living around the exam site to support parents and students with accommodation and drinking water.

"Our exam has the whole society joining hands and contributing," said the Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training.

According to the schedule, the literature exam will end at 10am. At 2pm this afternoon, candidates will take the English exam. At 8am on June 8, general candidates will finish their 10th grade math exam. Candidates taking the specialized exam will continue their exam on June 9.

According to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training , the admission score for grade 10 this year will not be multiplied by the coefficient of math and literature. Therefore, the maximum total score is 30 points, instead of 50 points as in previous years.

It is expected that around July 4-6, the Department will simultaneously announce the exam scores and the 10th grade benchmark scores. 2025 will also be the first year that candidates will know the exam scores and benchmark scores at the same time.
