According to information from the Hanoi Departmentof Education and Training, Hanoi is the locality with the largest number of candidates taking the exam in the country with about 126,000 candidates, an increase of about 15,000 students compared to 2024.
On April 10, the Hanoi People's Committee issued Decision No. 1979/QD-UBND on the establishment of the Steering Committee for the 2025 Hanoi high school graduation exam.
According to the decision, the Steering Committee for the 2025 Hanoi High School Graduation Exam consists of 70 members, with Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Vu Thu Ha as Head of the Committee; Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training Tran The Cuong as Permanent Deputy Head of the Committee.
Compared to previous school years, the 2025 High School Graduation Exam has many differences as this is the graduation year of the first batch of candidates studying under the 2018 General Education Program. Candidates will take 4 subjects instead of 6 as before, including two compulsory subjects (Math, Literature) and two elective subjects from the subjects studied in high school. The multiple-choice test has two new formats: true/false and short-answer multiple-choice. The questions are oriented to assess candidates' abilities, linked to practical issues.
In order to ensure the rights of candidates studying the old program (General Education Program 2006) who need to retake the exam to be considered for graduation recognition or to get the results of university admission, the Ministry of Education and Training has two separate exam schedules and exam questions for the two groups. Candidates take three compulsory exams including Literature, Mathematics, Foreign Language and choose one of two combined exams: Natural Sciences (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) or Social Sciences (History, Geography, Civic Education).
The 2025 high school graduation exam will take place nationwide on June 26 and 27.
