Hanoi lights up New Year's Eve with world record pyrotechnic drone performance

The special cultural event welcoming the Year of the Snake 2025 with the world's largest pyrotechnic drone performance is expected to become a highlight for the people of the capital and the whole country on New Year's Eve.

On the afternoon of January 20, the Hanoi Party Committee's Propaganda Department, the Department of Information and Communications, and the People's Committee of Nam Tu Liem District held a press conference to introduce the art program "Brilliant Thang Long 2025".

This is the biggest cultural event in the capital on the occasion of the Spring of At Ty 2025, with the highlight being the world's largest pyrotechnic drone performance ever, along with unique art performances imbued with the culture of Thang Long - Hanoi.

This year’s program has the theme “Brilliant Spring”, recreating inspiring historical stories about the Spring of the nation, country and people of Vietnam, especially the traditional and modern culture of Hanoi. The art performances are elaborately staged, combining many genres from music , dance to interactive art. With the participation of many famous artists, the program promises to bring a bustling atmosphere, full of love and hope for the new year.

The highlight of the event was the 2025 drone pyrotechnics display – the number symbolizing the year 2025 – on the world’s largest scale. The drones were programmed to create aerial light wonders, simulating unique effects such as flashing, waterfalls, and light sprays.

Speaking at the press conference, Chairman of Nam Tu Liem District People's Committee Mai Trong Thai affirmed that the district is honored to be assigned the responsibility of hosting this large-scale art program. "We will mobilize all resources to ensure the organization takes place safely, thoughtfully, and best serve the people. The goal is to make 'Brilliant Thang Long' an annual art event, anticipated by the people of the capital and tourists nationwide every New Year," shared the Chairman of Nam Tu Liem District People's Committee.

Providing more information about the event, Ms. Nguyen Hoai Thu, General Director of Corex Business Solutions Joint Stock Company (the organizer) said: “We have imported the most advanced drone system from Korea and combined with a team of domestic and international experts to program and create a unique performance. With the largest scale and number of drones in the world, the program is not only a meaningful gift to welcome the New Year but also aims to set a Guinness World Record, contributing to raising the position of Hanoi”.

According to the Organizing Committee, in 2023 in Korea, 1,068 pyrotechnic drones broke the world record; in 2024, 1,164 pyrotechnic drones broke the world record in the US and this year Vietnam will have 2,025 pyrotechnic drones.

The program “Brilliant Thang Long 2025” will officially take place on the evening of January 28 (New Year's Eve), at My Dinh Square (in front of My Dinh National Stadium) on Le Duc Tho Street, Hanoi. The program is expected to be broadcast live on Hanoi Radio and Television to serve the audience in the capital and the whole country.
