On December 17, the Hanoi Urban Railway Management Board (MRB) informed about the urban railway project No. 2, Nam Thang Long - Tran Hung Dao section.
According to the Prime Minister 's decision, the content of the approval of the adjustment of the investment policy for the construction project of Hanoi urban railway line 2, Nam Thang Long - Tran Hung Dao section includes:
Total length of the line is 11.5km, with 8.9km underground and 2.6km elevated, 7 underground stations and 3 elevated stations.
10 trains with 4 cars, 1,435mm double-track railway and 1 Depot area at Xuan Dinh, Bac Tu Liem district, area 17.5ha.
Preliminary total investment of the project is 35,588 billion VND, equivalent to more than 1,504 million USD.

Of which, ODA capital borrowed from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) under special loan conditions for economic partners is 167,079 million Yen, equivalent to 29,672 billion VND, equivalent to more than 1,254 million USD.
The counterpart fund from Hanoi city budget is 5,916 billion VND, equivalent to 250.19 million USD. The project will be implemented from 2025.
Line 2 will form an important backbone, connecting the inner city area, Noi Bai International Airport and the northern urban area of Hanoi. Not only bringing benefits in terms of transportation and environment, this urban railway line also plays an important role in the development of tourism and urban architecture of the capital.
The planning of Line 2, combining radial and belt routes, not only increases connectivity but also helps disperse passengers away from the central area, shortens travel time and optimizes the efficiency of the entire system.
