At the Hanoi City Party Committee's Propaganda Department meeting on the morning of August 30th, reporting on preparations for the 2024-2025 school year, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training, Vuong Huong Giang, stated that in the 2024-2025 school year, Hanoi will have a total of 2,913 preschool and primary/secondary schools (an increase of 39 schools compared to the previous year) with 2,238,000 students, 70,150 classes (an increase of 48,000 students compared to the same period last year), and 130,000 teachers. In addition, there will be 29 vocational education and continuing education centers.
There are 2,310 public schools (an increase of 26 schools compared to the same period last year) with 1,905,000 students, 51,000 classes (an increase of approximately 38,000 students compared to the same period last year) and 92,000 teachers. For the 2024-2025 school year, online enrollment saw 120,168 successful applications for grade 1 (90.89%) and 130,829 successful applications for grade 6 (90.06%).
For the 10th grade high school entrance exam, Hanoi had 117,361 registered candidates. As a result, nearly 121,382 students officially enrolled across the city (accounting for 87.72% of the target), of which 71,302 students (96.75% of the target) were officially enrolled in public schools.
Public high schools enrolled 73,368 students, achieving 100.52% of their assigned target; autonomous public high schools enrolled 3,675 students, reaching 89.74% of their target; private high schools enrolled 28,709 students, reaching 73.07% of their target; and vocational education and continuing education centers enrolled 10,233 students, reaching 83.36% of their assigned target…
Regarding the results of the 2024 high school graduation exam, the total number of high school graduates in Hanoi in 2024 is 104,034, reaching 99.81%, an increase of 0.25% and a rise of 5 ranks compared to 2023.
Regarding the preparation of facilities and tuition fee collection for the 2024-2025 school year, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training, Vuong Huong Giang, stated that for the 2024-2025 school year, public preschool and general education institutions in the city will collect tuition fees according to the regulations in Resolution No. 02/2024/NQ-HĐND dated March 29, 2024, of the Hanoi City People's Council. The opening ceremony will be held uniformly across the city on the morning of September 5, 2024.
