Two banks change presidents at the same time

Vietnam Prosperity Bank ( VPBank ) has just announced information on personnel appointments at Global Petroleum Commercial Joint Stock Bank (GPBank), after the State Bank approved the proposed list.

Accordingly, Ms. Pham Thi Nhung was appointed as Chairwoman of the Board of Members (BOD) of GPBank. Ms. Nhung is currently a member of the Board of Directors (BOD) of VPBank for the current term, and is expected to continue to be elected to the Board of Directors of VPBank for the 2025-2030 term at the upcoming Annual General Meeting of Shareholders. The plan is implemented according to the personnel list approved by the State Bank.

To ensure compliance with the Law on Credit Institutions regarding cases of not holding the same position, Ms. Nhung will no longer hold the position of Permanent Deputy General Director of VPBank from April 25.

Ms. Nhung joined VPBank in 2016, is a senior staff with many years of experience, having held important positions in the bank. In 2021, she was appointed to the position of Deputy General Director of VPBank, and became a member of the Board of Directors from April 2024.

Ms. Pham Thi Nhung was appointed to the position of Chairwoman of the Board of Members of GPBank.

The appointment of senior personnel to join the GPBank Board of Directors is part of the process of implementing the compulsory transfer plan of GPBank to VPBank according to the decision of the State Bank on January 17, 2025, to comprehensively restructure this credit institution in accordance with legal regulations.

In addition to Ms. Nhung, the State Bank approved the appointment of 5 other members to join the GPBank Board of Directors for the 2025-2030 term, including Ms. Luu Thi Thao, Mr. Nguyen Huy Phach, Ms. Duong Thi Thu Thuy, Ms. Nguyen Phuong Nam and Mr. Nguyen Quang Trung.

GPBank is currently a bank 100% owned by VPBank, conducting commercial banking activities according to regulations, in the form of a one-member limited liability bank.

Meanwhile, at the 2025 Annual General Meeting of Shareholders of the Prosperity and Development Bank (PGBank) recently held, the proposals and strategic plans of the Board of Directors (BOD) were approved, including the structure of the BOD and Supervisory Board (BOS) for the 2025-2030 term.

Notably, Ms. Cao Thi Thuy Nga - Independent member of the Board of Directors of PGBank for the 2020-2025 term has become the new Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of PGBank; Mr. Tran Ngoc Dung continues to be elected as Head of the Board of Supervisors of PGBank.

Ms. Cao Thi Thuy Nga - new Chairwoman of PGBank Board of Directors

PGBank will add members to the Board of Directors and the Board of Supervisors according to the provisions of the Law on Credit Institutions 2024 at the extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders within the prescribed time.

Ms. Cao Thi Thuy Nga has more than 40 years of experience in the banking sector, especially in the positions of laying the foundation and building the banking platform. She has held many management positions at BIDV and MB before becoming an independent member of the Board of Directors of PGBank since August 2024.

In 2025, PGBank completed increasing its charter capital through the issuance of bonus shares and completing the public offering of shares to VND4,200 billion in March and is expected to complete doubling its capital to VND10,000 billion by the end of this year. The bank also targets pre-tax profit of VND1,001 billion, up 135.3% over the previous year.
