Two Vietnamese female students won scholarships worth nearly 8.6 billion VND to enter top universities in the US

(Dan Tri) - Phi Ngoc Lam Uyen - Olympia Inter-level School - and Le Hoang Tien - Foreign Language High School - were admitted to two top universities in the United States in the early admission round.


Phi Ngoc Lam Uyen, an IB student at Olympia Inter-level School, received early admission to Dartmouth University (USA) this morning. The financial support that Uyen received is about more than 8.5 billion VND for 4 years of study. Dartmouth is one of the top 8 Ivy League schools in the US today.

Olympia School's media representative said that previously, the school had two students admitted to top universities in Australia and Canada.

Tran Ngoc Thao Nhi, a student of the integrated program, received scholarships from 3 Australian universities: University of Sydney (ranked 18th in the world , top 2 in Australia), University of Technology Sydney (ranked 88th in the world, top 9 in Australia) and Macquarie University (top 10 in Australia).

Vu Thien Lam, an IB student, was accepted into three prestigious universities in Canada, including: University of Calgary - Top 8 in Canada; Seneca Polytechnic University and George Brown University. Lam decided to choose Calgary to study business analysis.

Also this morning, the Foreign Language High School had two students receive admission results to two major universities in the US, according to Dr. Do Thi Ngoc Chi, vice principal of the school.

Le Hoang Tien - a 12A1 student - was admitted to Vassar College, one of the top 12 liberal arts colleges in the United States. The financial support Tien received was about 8.6 billion VND for 4 years of study. Vassar College was founded in 1861 and has strengths in training in the fields of political science, psychology, biology, art history, etc.

Tran Nam Khanh, a 12A3 student, was admitted to Colby College, a top 17 liberal arts college. Khanh received a scholarship of 74,000 USD/year, equivalent to nearly 1.8 billion VND.

A day earlier, two other Vietnamese students were admitted to Harvard University and Brown University. One is a student at Concordia International School Hanoi . The other is a student at Hanoi-Amsterdam High School for the Gifted.

According to information from the study abroad company American Study, also in this early admission round, Ho Chi Minh City has 2 students admitted to Cornell University in the United States: Nguyen Huu An Khang - ABC International School and Huynh Ha Thien My - High School for the Gifted, Ho Chi Minh City National University.

Every year, American universities have two types of admissions: open admissions and time-limited admissions. In the time-limited admissions, the Early Decision (ED) period usually opens applications from November 1 to November 11. The Regular Decision (RD) period opens applications from January 1 to February 1.
