On the afternoon of May 2, in Ho Chi Minh City, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hai Phong City introduced to the press the celebration of the 70th anniversary of Hai Phong Liberation Day (May 13, 1955 - May 13, 2025) and the Red Flamboyant Festival - Hai Phong in 2025.
Ms. Tran Thi Hoang Mai - Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hai Phong City said that this year, Hai Phong welcomes the Red Flamboyant Festival with a very special spirit as the city prepares to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the city's Liberation Day. This is an event of great significance to the history and culture of Hai Phong in particular and the country in general.
Along with the 70th anniversary of Hai Phong Liberation Day, on May 13, Hai Phong City was honored to receive the title of "Heroic City", becoming the second locality in the country (after Ho Chi Minh City) to be awarded this noble titleby the President .
The Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hai Phong City added that on this occasion, the city will organize a parade (including 36-40 blocks), demonstrating the strength and maturity of the forces in the cause of innovation and development; honoring the historical, cultural and revolutionary traditions of the city. The parade will take place at 7:30-8:50 on May 11, at the City Theater Square - and the central streets.
Hai Phong City also focuses on caring for and showing gratitude to people with meritorious services and policy families; at the same time, supporting 1,720 residential groups (each group receives 10 million VND) as a gift from the city to celebrate the big holiday.

Mr. Hoang Cong Cuong - General Director of the program celebrating the 70th anniversary of Hai Phong Liberation Day shared that in the past 2 months, the program's production team has made great efforts to create a special highlight, both in terms of content meaning and media appeal for the 70th anniversary program and the Red Flamboyant Festival.
In addition to the solemn ceremonies to summarize the 70-year journey of formation, development and important milestones of Hai Phong, looking towards the future, the program included a live singing of the National Anthem with the participation of 13,000 delegates and on-site audiences.
In the festival part, the crew brought the most beautiful images and cultural memories of Hai Phong, staged in 3 chapters. According to the director, this was the first time a special script concept was applied, turning the entire celebration stage into a documentary film but animated on stage. This is a fairly new language in an event of the festival program with the goal of recreating a large-scale scene, immersing the audience in a unique stage performance.
The program will have many famous artists and singers participating in the performance, such as People's Artist Khanh Hoa , People's Artist Nhat Thuan, People's Artist Pham Thu Ha, singers Tung Duong, Soobin Hoang Son, Phuong Linh... along with more than 600 professional artists and actors from local, central and non-professional Theaters, Art Troupes from Universities, High Schools and cultural centers in Hai Phong City.
Also on the occasion of the 70th anniversary, Hai Phong City coordinated with the Vietnam Railways to launch the “Red Flamboyant Train Line” with 20 carriages containing cultural spaces, including luxury carriages of 5-star quality. These carriages are being completed in Ho Chi Minh City.
On the evening of May 13, Hai Phong organized high-altitude and low-altitude fireworks displays at 6 locations across the city. This is the first time the city of red phoenix flowers has organized so many fireworks displays at the same time.
